Autumn de Wilde

Autumn de Wilde was born in Woodstock, NY in 1974. Autumn has no formal education in photography but learned from her father. Jerry de Wilde is an art and commercial photogrpaher who took photos of Jimi Hendrix and other important icons of the 70's.
Autumn's work has been featured in many different printings. her work has appeared on the cover of spin and within the pages of rolling Stones, Filter, Entertainment Weekly, and The New York Times. She has photographed album covers for many different musicians such as Elliott Smith, The White Stripes, Beck, Fiona Apple, and The Raconteurs.
I find Autumn de Wilde to be so interesting because not only is she a photographer but she also directs music videos. She's directed videos for musicians such as Death Cab for Cutie, Elliott Smith, and Rilo Kiley. Along with photography I am also very interested in film and music videos. I think it is incredible to be skilled in multiple areas and that is what I am striving to do.
Autumn de Wilde shoots in both color and black and white. I like this because images can have different feeling to them depending on how they are shot and when someone can shoot both color and black and white well that is very impressive.
This photo of Beck is what first drew me to Autumn de Wilde. The color she uses in this photo is beautiful. the way that Beck's pale, pinkish skin almost matches the light pinkish background makes the photo so unique. She has a style that I am drawn to with her use of whimsical colors in photos such as this one.
